Former Liverpool defender Josemi has heaped praise on Real Madrid boss Rafael Bentiez, saying that the Spaniard is a perfectionist and his success with the clubs that he has been at speaks for itself.

Real Madrid have appointed Benitez to the helm following the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian endured a difficult season at the Santiago Bernabeu as Los Blancos finished without major silverware last season.

Benitez had been in charge at Anfield from 2004 until 2010 and during his stint with the Merseyside giants he guided them to the Champions League success in 2005 and to the brink of the league title in 2009, where they ultimately finished second.

Josemi, who had played for Liverpool from 2004 until his departure in January 2006, has lauded his fellow Spaniard and has backed him to succeed in the Spanish capital.

“He's insistent and a perfectionist”, the 35-year-old told Madrid-based daily AS in an interview.
