Real Madrid are considering a bid of €22m for Lazio's defensive midfielder and Manchester United target Lucas Biglia, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Spanish giants have appointed Rafael Benitez to the helm and he is looking add a defensive midfielder to his squad as he prepares the team for the coming season.

Biglia was one of the standout performers for Lazio as they finished third in the league standings and sealed a spot in next season’s Champions League.

They also made it to the final of the Coppa Italia, although they came up short against Juventus in the summit clash and had to contend with runners-up medals.

Real Madrid struggled last season in the defensive midfield department and have brought back Casemiro from FC Porto.
