Celtic captain Scott Brown is itching for action after returning from his holidays and joining the Hoops as they prepare for the season ahead.

The Hoops finished last season with a double of the league title and the League Cup as they start their preparations for next season and attempt to better last term’s success.

Brown, who made 48 appearances in all competitions in the previous campaign and contributed six goals and eight assists to his team’s cause, is eager to get on with the action after his brief holiday.

“I had a two-week holiday and I had a week before I met up with Scotland as well so it’s definitely given us all enough time to recharge our batteries”, he told his club’s site.

The Bhoys have lined up several friendlies, which include matches against Spanish sides Eibar and Real Sociedad, along with Den Bosch, Dukla Prague and French outfit Rennes.

And Brown feels that the friendly encounters will prepare his team for the challenges of the coming season.

“These friendlies are going to benefit us a lot especially the boys who have been away on international duty who’ve maybe had three or four weeks off.

“We don’t know too much about the opposition teams at the moment but we’ll be watching videos of them.”

Celtic will begin their Champions League campaign against Icelandic side Stjarnan, with the first leg scheduled to be played at Celtic Park in mid-July.
