Espanyol winger Lucas Vazquez is all set to become Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez’s first signing at the club, according to Madrid-based daily AS.

Vazquez, a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy, was sold to the Catalan side last summer by Los Blancos, but they kept several clauses in the contract to sign him back.

The Madrid outfit have decided to exercise their buy-back clause and seal a 1m move for the winger.

The 23-year-old was one of the revelations of Espanyol’s 2014/15 campaign and contributed four goals and seven assists from his 39 games in all competitions.

His stellar displays saw several La Liga sides eager for his signature. But Real Madrid have moved early and acquired him.
