Aymen Abdennour's agent has rowed back on comments in which he appeared to suggest his client had no desire to play in Italy and was instead looking to move to either England or Spain.

The Monaco centre-back is a man in demand this summer amid links with Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham in England, along with Juventus and AC Milan in Italy; earlier today, Real Madrid were also linked with the Tunisia international.

Abdennour's agent recently seemed to have dealt a hammer blow to Italian sides' hopes of signing his client by insisting Italy was not a move the defender wanted to make.

But he has now sought to distance himself from those views and claimed instead that turning out in Serie A would be a dream for any player.

"There was a misunderstanding", Abdelkader Jilani protested to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

"What I can say is that at the moment there is nothing concrete in Italy.

"Abdennour is one of the best defenders on the European scene at the moment and it is normal he is valued.

"There have been some proposals from England and Spain, but from Italy there have only been enquiries, there is no official offer on the table and there are no negotiations ongoing.

"Abdennour would like to play in Italy, that would be a dream. What player does not dream about Italy?" he added.

However, the agent advises all interested clubs to first speak to Monaco, with whom his client remains firmly under contract.

"Currently he has a contract with Monaco and whoever wants him must talk to the principality club, who deserve respect."

Abdennour was a key man for Monaco last season as the principality outfit finished third in Ligue 1, while also mounting a surprise run to the Champions League quarter-finals, knocking out Arsenal along the way.
