Manchester United defender Phil Jones has expressed his delight after penning a new contract with the Red Devils.

The 23-year-old’s new contract with the Manchester outfit will see him at the club until the summer of 2019, with an option to extend for a further year.

Jones landed at Old Trafford from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2011 and he has gone on to play over a 100 games for the Manchester giants.

Last season, he endured an injury-marred campaign that saw him reduced to 24 first team appearances across the Premier League and the FA Cup, as the Red Devils finished fourth in the league and exited the prestigious domestic cup competition at the quarter-final stage after losing to eventual winners Arsenal.

He has expressed his delight at the signing of his new deal, adding that he is looking forward to continuing his development at the club.
