Rangers have announced they will square off against English club Burnley in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox.

The fixture will mark manager Mark Warburton’s first home game with his new club, and the former Brentford manager is looking forward to the occasion.

“Burnley will be a good early season test for our players and I am looking forward to my first match as Rangers manager in front of the supporters at Ibrox”, said Warburton to the Gers’ official website.

He further stressed the importance of the fixture for both clubs given they start their seasons in August.

Rangers kick off their new season with a League Cup game on 1st August while Burnley are up against Leeds United in their Championship opener on the 8th of August.

“I have no doubt this game will be beneficial to both clubs as we prepare for our opening league and cup fixtures in late July and early August”, the Rangers manager added.

The match against Burnley is the Ibrox club’s only confirmed pre-season fixture. The game kicks off on the 21st of July at the home of the Light Blues.

Rangers are scheduled to play out the remainder of their pre-season behind closed doors, the itinerary for which is yet to be made official.

Burnley, who suffered relegation from England’s top flight last season, will play in the second tier in 2015/16.
