Abou Diaby has officially left Arsenal upon the expiry of his contract with the north London club.

Diaby, who last played for the Gunners in the 2013/14 season, will leave Arsenal with four academy players: Jack Jebb, Austin Lipman, Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill and Josh Vickers.

The injury-prone Frenchman missed the entire 2014/15 season due to various injuries. His last appearance in an Arsenal shirt was against Norwich City at Carrow Road in the final league game of the 2013/14 season.

Diaby, 29, made 180 appearances for the north London club in nine injury-ravaged seasons. He scored 19 goals in his time with the club and chipped in with 16 assists.

The midfielder was signed by Arsene Wenger in January 2006 from French club Auxerre and tipped for big things.
