Barcelona had advanced negotiations with Arda Turan yesterday in a bid to prise him away to the Camp Nou this summer, according to Catalunya Radio.

Turan revealed his desire to leave the Vicente Calderon this summer and he recently took to Twitter to say that several clubs are in contact with his agent over a possible move.

The Turkey international’s agent Ahmed Bulut said that his client would prefer a move to the English Premier League and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the midfielder.

However, Turan has been in touch with Barcelona as the Catalans attempt to bolster their treble-winning side for the coming season.

Luis Enrique’s outfit have been hit by a FIFA-imposed two-transfer window ban on incoming players and it may play spoilsport in their chase for the Turk.

The ban means that any new signings won’t be able to play for the Catalans until the sanction is lifted in the winter transfer window.

The embargo may prevent Turan, an integral part of Diego Simeone’s first team, from signing for the reigning European and Spanish champions this summer.

The 28-year-old has been at the Vicente Calderon since 2011, when he signed from Turkish giants Galatasaray.
