Inter winger Xherdan Shaqiri has knocked back the chance to join Premier League side Stoke City, despite the Potters agreeing a €17m fee with the Nerazzurri.

Shaqiri, who has been linked with Liverpool this summer, is wanted at the Britannia Stadium by Stoke, who took a big step towards his arrival by agreeing a fee with Inter.

But according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Shaqiri does not want to move to Stoke and has knocked back the Potters.

Inter only signed Shaqiri from Bayern Munich in the winter transfer window this year, seeing off interest from Liverpool in the winger.

Liverpool have been linked with rekindling their interest in the Switzerland international this summer, but Stoke are making all the running.

The Potters may hope to still persuade Shaqiri to head to England, but appear to have their work cut out given the winger's reluctance to sign up at the Britannia Stadium.

Still just 23 years old, Shaqiri has a total of 20 appearances and three goals to his name for Inter.
