Real Madrid have identified Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia as one of Manchester United target Sergio Ramos’ potential replacements.

Ramos is said to ready to leave the club this summer due to a contract wrangle and Manchester United have already made their first bid for the defender.

With his relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez on a rapid slide, the club are aware that they might find it hard to hold on to him and therefore, they are already going about their business of identifying replacements for the 29-year-old.

Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi is believed to be their top target if Ramos decides to pack his bags but the club are also looking at other options.

According to Sky Italia, Bayern Munich defender Benatia has emerged as a target and Real Madrid could make a move for the Moroccan should they lose Ramos.

Benatia joined Bayern Munich from Roma last summer in a big money move but form and injuries didn’t allow him to nail down a starting spot in Pep Guardiola’s team last season.

He has also been linked with a move back to Italy but his agent has claimed that Benatia is keen to continue with the Bavarians.

Despite his willingness to stay at the Allianz Arena, Benatia has made his way on to Real Madrid’s shortlist of targets who could replace Ramos in the team.
