Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos’ mother Paqui has said that her son wants to stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu despite interest from Manchester United.

Ramos has been increasingly unsettled in the Spanish capital as his contract wrangle has been stretched without any amicable resolution.

Manchester United have been primed to take advantage of the situation and had tabled a bid worth £28.6m that failed to budge Real Madrid from their stance and the Red Devils are reportedly preparing another bid worth €60m.

Ramos is also believed to favour a move to Old Trafford. His mother, however, believes that her son wants to stay put in the Spanish capital.

“Of course”, she told Spanish outlet Antena 3, speaking through a car window, when asked whether her son wanted to continue at Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid above all”, she added.

When asked if Ramos would prefer a move to Manchester United, she replied: “No.

“I think not.

"He wants to stay in Spain.”

Though the course of his time with Real Madrid, Ramos has made close to 450 appearances and has won a bagful of trophies.
