Arsene Wenger has failed in an attempt to convince Lukas Podolski to remain at Arsenal, something which means the Germany international will move to Turkish champions Galatasaray.

Podolski spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian outfit Inter, but struggled to make his mark in Serie A and the Nerazzurri did not push to keep him on a permanent basis.

The forward wants to ensure regular first team football next term, something Wenger cannot offer, Podolski's agent Nassim Touihri has admitted.

And so Podolski has had to disappoint Wenger.

The agent told German daily Bild: "We had very good discussions with Wenger.

"He wanted to keep Lukas, but could not guarantee him a regular place. Therefore, we have agreed to a change."

Podolski is heading to Turkey to ink a deal with Galatasaray.

The Turkish champions are paying around the €4m mark to sign the former Bayern Munich man, who will pen a contract at the Turk Telekom Arena that runs until the summer of 2018.

Galatasaray won the Turkish Super Lig last season and Podolski will play Champions League football with the club next term.
