Barcelona defender Martin Montoya has landed in Milan ahead of his proposed move to Inter Milan, being welcomed by Nerazzurri owner Erick Thohir.

Montoya will sign a two-year deal with the Serie A giants, subject to passing his medical which is scheduled to be conducted today.




The right-back is a product of the Barcelona youth academy and had progressed through the ranks to make his first team debut under then manager Pep Guardiola in 2011.

However, he failed to secure a regular first team spot under manager Luis Enrique last season, with Dani Alves ahead of him in the pecking order.
 

Barcelona have also purchased Aleix Vidal from Sevilla this summer, meaning that Montoya’s was likely to struggle even more for first team action.

His signing will help Inter Milan strengthen their squad for the coming season as they look to improve upon their eighth place league finish last term and secure a spot in European competition next season.

The 24-year-old was also linked with a move to Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.

Through the course of his career at the Camp Nou, Montoya made 67 first team appearances.
