New Leeds United signing Chris Wood has expressed his delight at sealing his move to the Whites, and is aiming for a return to the Premier League with his new club.

The New Zealand striker, who signed for the Elland Road club yesterday, is excited about his future at Leeds and has expressed his delight at joining a “massive” club.

"I’m very excited, it’s a massive club – everybody knows that”, said Wood to his club’s official website.

"It’s one that I’m happy to get over the line.”

Wood revealed that he was convinced by the club’s interest in him.

“That was what I wanted when I heard the interest and I spoke to the manager.

"It was something that took me aback and made me think ‘This is where I want to be and this is the club I want to be at’. Thankfully, I got there", he added, expressing his satisfaction at the move.

The 23-year-old is aiming to get the three-time English champions back to the Premier League, which he feels is a chance to make history with the club.

"Ultimately, I want to be in the Premier League and that’s where I want to take Leeds.

"I’d like to establish myself here, become part of a club and hopefully become part of history if that happens.“

The ex-Leicester City striker is looking forward to playing in front of the passionate Whites fans, and talked up the club’s massive fanbase.

"It’s a massive club with a massive fanbase and very passionate fans. I can’t wait to be playing in front of them and hopefully doing the business."

Leeds, who finished 15th in the Championship last season, will be hoping for a promotion campaign next season.

They have already strengthened their squad by bringing in Charlie Horton, Lee Erwin and Sol Bamba in the close season before sealing Wood’s transfer yesterday.
