Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has praised Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger for his longevity in the job, adding that he shares the Frenchman’s desire to win trophies at the club.

Cech completed his long awaited transfer to the Emirates Stadium from Stamford Bridge after he struggled to get regular playing under Blues’ boss Jose Mourinho last term.

The arrival of Thibaut Courtois last summer curtailed Cech’s appearances in the Pensioners’ goal and he was reduced to a mere 16 games in all competitions as Mourinho’s men went on to win the Premier League and the League Cup.

Cech has admired the longevity of his new boss Wenger, who has been at the helm of Arsenal since 1996 and keeps going strong.

"You have to admire his consistency, the calibre of his work [and] what he has done since he came to Arsenal”, Cech was quoted as saying by the Arsenal website.

"He is valued at Arsenal for the right reasons.

“Being in his position for such a long time is very rare, you saw it at Manchester United [with Sir Alex Ferguson] and at Arsenal but you don’t really see it anywhere else.”

The Czech Republic international further added that he shares the values of the Frenchman and is eager to help Arsenal win trophies during his time at the club.

“When I spoke with him it was very important for me to know that I see things in pretty much the same way, with the desire to improve and to get better and to win things.”
