Arsenal new boy Petr Cech has revealed that there were several clubs interested in his signature, but his decision to choose the north London outfit was based purely on “football reasons.”

Cech was linked with several European outfits after struggling for regular first team action at Stamford Bridge last season, but he was always believed to favour a move to Arsenal.

The custodian’s family being settled in London and his unwillingness to uproot them has been cited as the main reason for his decision to choose the Gunners over other suitors.

But the 33-year-old has revealed that even though there were other offers on the table for him, his decision to move to the Emirates was based purely on football reasons.

And the goalkeeper, who won four Premier League titles and the 2012 Champions League with Chelsea, further added that he is glad to be able to continue playing in the Premier League.

"Yes, there were other clubs in for me but I had said previously that I would put all the offers down next to one another and choose the best one for football reasons”, the veteran goalkeeper told his club’s site.

“Arsenal came to me with the best football reasons.

"They have shown me real commitment.

“It was never about financial offers, it was only ever about football and I am really glad that I can continue in the Premier League.”
