Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has expressed his delight after penning a new deal with the German outfit.

Gundogan was heavily linked with a move to Premier League heavyweights Manchester United after expressing his interest in leaving the Ruhr outfit, but in a dramatic U-turn he has inked a new deal with BVB until the summer of 2017.

Apart from the Red Devils, reigning French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Catalan giants Barcelona were also reported to be monitoring his situation.

However, Gundogan has expressed his delight at extending his stay at Signal Iduna Park, as the club prepare to start next season under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

“The first days of preparing for the new season are over and it is a lot of fun to work with the coaches and my team-mates”, the Germany international was quoted as saying by his club’s site.
