Turkish champions Galatasaray have confirmed that they have officially opened talks to sign Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski.

The Germany international has been tipped to move to the Turk Telekom Arena this summer after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger could not guarantee him regular playing time for next season.

Podolski spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian giants Inter after growing tired of kicking his heels on the sidelines at Arsenal.

Now events are moving quickly and Podolski appears set to be on his way to Turkey.

Galatasaray announced on their official site: "Galatasaray has announced that it has initiated formal negotiations for the transfer of Lukas Podolski, the Arsenal player."
