Celtic new boy Saidy Janko has expressed his delight at signing for the Hoops, saying that it was hard to resist a chance to play for the Scottish giants.

Janko was previously with Manchester United and his contract ran out last month. Last season, he spent a brief loan spell at Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers – who are led by former Hoops boss Neil Lennon – and the youngster notched a goal and an assist apiece with the Trotters.

The 19-year-old has revealed that it was hard for him to pass up a chance to play for the Bhoys when the chance came calling this summer.

“I was happy to stay at Man United but Celtic is hard to resist and here I’ll train with the first team every day and hopefully get in the first eleven”, he told Celtic TV.

“I’m very excited to join the club and I’m looking forward to it."

The youngster further added that he is honoured to play for a club of Celtic’s stature and to have them interested in him “was a good feeling.”

“I was very happy and honoured at a big club like Celtic wanting me or having interest. It was a good feeling.”

“I know it’s a massive club in Europe and everyone knows the club all over the world. Everyone knows the supporters, it’s a big stadium and everything here is huge.

“Manchester United is a big club as well and I had a great time there too but I needed a new challenge so here I am.”

Through the course of his time at Old Trafford, Janko notched up 28 appearances in all competitions for the club's Under-21s and returned figures of a goal and six assists.
