New Celtic signing Saidy Janko has dismissed suggestions that youngsters do not receive opportunities to impress at Manchester United.

Janko, who sealed his move to Celtic Park on Wednesday, started his senior career at English giants Manchester United but failed to break into the first team picture at Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old believes opportunities are provided at the big clubs. He does though admit things tend to be difficult at Manchester United, but insists it is easier compared to other big clubs in England.

“It’s definitely not easy, yes that’s true. But I think at Manchester United it was easier because they give young players a chance”, said the new Bhoy in his first press conference as a Celtic player.

The Swiss Under-19 international, however, feels breaking into the first team depends on the effort of the players as well as their luck with injuries.

“[It depends on] whether you take it [the opportunities] or not or sometimes depends on injuries and everything but Manchester United I think they work with young players as well”, he added.

Janko, who penned a four-year deal with the Hoops, played ten times in England’s Championship last season for Bolton Wanderers, under former Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

The youngster becomes the second signing of the close season for Celtic, following Dedryck Boyata’s arrival last month.
