The agent of Lazio starlet Keita Balde Diao admits that his client is disappointed to have not featured regularly for the Rome-based outfit last season and raised the possibility of Liverpool as the perfect destination for the 20-year-old.

A former Barcelona youth player, Keita was expected to feature week in, week out for Lazio last season, but coach Stefano Pioli regularly preferred other options.

Keita's agent is in no mood to criticise a coach who led Lazio to a finish of third in Serie A, yet he is still disappointed the forward was not handed more playing time to show that his performances in 2013/14 were no fluke and to build on his progress.

Ulisse Savini told Radiosei 98.100: "Keita played little during the last year, many expected confirmation of what we saw last season. But this could not be given as there was little chance to play. It seems that around us the value of Keita has been forgotten, which is a shame.

"To see that he was put on the back burner when internationally he is one of the most exciting prospects is not nice", the agent continued, before refusing to lay into Pioli.

"To criticise a coach who came third in the standings is wrong, he has done well from a technical point of view.

"However, a player with his characteristics has to play and I expected better treatment."

Savini says that Keita is not for sale; that much he has gleaned from speaking with Lazio.

But the agent does believe there are interesting destinations out there for the young forward, destinations which may be able to put money on the table to secure his client.

And Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers' reputation for encouraging and growing young talents has not been lost on Keita's agent.

"I have personally spoken with Lazio and the sale of Keita is not taken into account", Savini explained.

"It is normal that there is not satisfaction with this situation and some possibilities are evaluated, maybe profitable and technically viable ones.

"It is not easy.

"Liverpool have a coach who prefers attacking players like Keita.

"It is a pleasant destination and a number of situations have to be looked at, while I don't have information to that effect.

"At the moment I have not had any direct contact."

Last season Keita managed just 23 appearances in Serie A, most coming from the bench, and scored just one goal.

In the 2013/14 campaign he featured with more regularity, making 25 appearances in Serie A and scoring five goals, while earning rave reviews. In total during the 2013/14 season he scored eleven goals in all competitions.

The 20-year-old is under contract with Lazio until the summer of 2013.
