Chelsea have been given hope of signing Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger, with his agent saying his client has not signed a deal to join any side as yet.

Rudiger has been strongly linked with joining Wolfsburg, but mindful of UEFA's financial fair play rules, the Wolves are struggling to meet the €18m asking price which has been slapped on the defender's head; so far Wolfsburg are only at €12m.

Chelsea are also keen on Rudiger, but looked to have lost out amid suggestions the youngster is keen to remain within Germany.

But agent Sahr Senesie has given the Blues hope that a deal to sign Rudiger could be done.

"Antonio finds Wolfsburg very interesting, but that also applies to Chelsea", the agent told local daily the Stuttgarter Nachrichten.

"Nothing has been signed", he added.

The 22-year-old defender is a product of Stuttgart's youth academy, having been tempted to quit Borussia Dortmund's youth ranks to join up.

Now a regular in the Stuttgart side, Rudiger has also earned six senior caps for Germany and is considered one of the country's most promising defensive prospects.
