Liverpool vice-captain Jordan Henderson wants to see the Reds challenging for the Premier League title next season.

The Merseyside giants fought tooth and nail for the title until the final day of the season in the 2013/14 campaign, but last term slumped to sixth and struggled even to put together a realistic challenge to finish in the top four.

They also came up short in the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.

Henderson wants trophies to arrive at Anfield next term, along with Liverpool finishing in the top four. He is also keen for the Reds to fight for the Premier League crown.

The midfielder told his club's site: "Getting back into the Champions League is a big objective for us, but also winning trophies – Liverpool Football Club should be winning trophies every year.

"So that's another aim for us. I think it is realistic, with the players we have got and the manager we have got, I feel that we can achieve those things.

"In the FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup, we want to be challenging and winning", Henderson continued.

"And obviously in the league, we want to be right up there challenging and hopefully get into the Champions League places as well."

Liverpool are shaping up to kick off their pre-season preparations with a tour to Asia and Australia on the agenda for the Reds.

They start their Premier League campaign with a trip to Stoke City, the site of a 6-1 defeat on the final day of last season.
