Sporting Lisbon are continuing negotiations with Norwich City over re-signing striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel and are close to a deal, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

Van Wolfswinkel joined Sporting Lisbon in 2011 from Dutch side FC Utrecht and instantly impressed in Portuguese football, showing a potent touch in front of goal.

His exploits persuaded Norwich to snap him up in 2013, but the Dutchman struggled to repeat his form at Carrow Road and was loaned to Saint-Etienne last season.

Despite Norwich winning promotion back to the Premier League, Van Wolfswinkel is not in the club's plans for the new campaign.

Now Sporting Lisbon are in negotiations with Norwich over the transfer fee to be paid for Van Wolfswinkel, who himself is keen to return to Portugal.
