Barcelona are set to announce the acquisition of Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan on a five-year deal, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

Turan, who has been at the Vicente Calderon since the summer of 2011 when he joined from Galatasaray, has been linked all summer with a move to the Camp Nou outfit.

Premier League outfits Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the Turk and his agent had also talked about his client’s interest in a move to the English league.

However, the Catalans appear to have won the race to acquire his signature.

Barcelona are currently reeling under a two-transfer window ban on incoming players, meaning that they cannot register players until the sanction is lifted in January.

A move for Turan to the Camp Nou this summer would see him on the bench for the first half of the season, before the club become eligible to register new players.

The Turk is reported to have signed a five-year contract with the Catalans for a fee of €34m, plus €7m in add-ons.
