Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa has met with the representative of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti with a view to persuading him to sign for the Catalan giants, according to Catalan daily Sport.

Freixa recently met with Verratti’s representative Donato di Campli at a hotel in Formentera and discussed the possibility of the Italian lining up for Barcelona in the future.

Luis Enrique’s side have been linked with several midfielders this summer as they attempt to build upon their treble winning campaign of last season.

Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan has been heavily linked with a move and Barcelona have also made an offer for Juventus midfielder Paul Poga, although Old Lady CEO Guiseppe Marotta has shown no interest in letting go of their prized possession.

And now Verratti is another name that has come into the mix as the Barcelona presidential elections due to be held on 18th July near.
