Newcastle United have taken young Dutch talent Dani Koks on trial for the week ahead.

The 17-year-old midfielder turned out for Ajax's B1 side last season, but is now aiming to impress Magpies boss Steve McClaren.

McClaren enjoys a good network of contacts in the Netherlands due to his two spells in charge of Eredivisie side FC Twente.

And he will take a close look at Koks over the course of the next week, according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

Koks grew disillusioned with life at Ajax and chose to pack his bags when overlooked for the squad for the Future Cup.
