Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas is closing in on a shock move to FC Porto this summer, according to Spanish TV channel TVE.

With Los Blancos actively pursuing the signature of David de Gea from Manchester United, Casillas has been considering his future at the club as he is expected to drop down the pecking order if his younger compatriot arrives at the Bernabeu this summer.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a move to a number of clubs across Europe, including Roma, who are keen to sign the legendary Spaniard.

However, it has been claimed that the two-time European Championship winner is close to joining Porto and is expected to play his football next season for Julen Lopetegui’s side.

Real Madrid are said to have received an official offer from the Portuguese giants for Casillas and the club have accepted the bid to pave the way for the custodian’s departure this summer.

It has been claimed both the club and the player are keen to part ways on good terms and the proposed transfer is crucial to the club’s plans of recruiting De Gea from Manchester United this summer.

A product of Real Madrid’s youth academy, Casillas has won five La Ligas and three Champions League crowns amongst various other honours in his 723 apperances for Los Blancos.

He has also earned 161 caps for Spain and won two European Championships and a World Cup with his national team.
