AS Monaco are eyeing a move for Liverpool linked goalkeeper Marco Sportiello this summer.

At 23, the Italian has established himself as Atalanta’s undisputed number one and played all but one game for the club last season.

His performances between the sticks for the Bergamo-based club have earned high praise and have also attracted the attention of a few clubs across Europe.

Liverpool are believed to be interested in the player and were said to be keen to sign him before the player himself said last month that he is happy at Atalanta.

However, those words have had little effect on Monaco and according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, the Ligue 1 side have Sportiello on their shortlist of targets.

Danijel Subasic is Monaco’s number one between the sticks but the club are keen to add a young goalkeeper to their squad to keep the Croatian on his toes.

However, Atalanta are reluctant to sell him this summer and only a fee of around €10m would make them think about letting Sportiello leave.

He contract with the club runs until the summer of 2019.
