Barcelona have confirmed the signing of midfielder Arda Turan from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

Turan had been tipped to link up with the Catalan giants in recent days, despite being strongly linked with a move to the English Premier League with both Chelsea and Manchester United.

But the Turkey international's future is at the Camp Nou, with Barcelona agreeing to pay Atletico Madrid a fee of €34m plus a further €7m in add-ons.

As Barcelona are currently in a period of presidential elections, the agreement allows for the new club president to sell Turan back to Atletico Madrid, minus a fee of 10 per cent.

However, the midfielder was specifically requested by Barcelona coach Luis Enrique, who led the Catalan giants to a La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble last season.
