New Manchester United signing Memphis Depay joined in with training for the first time at his new club earlier today, taking the first steps on his road to turning out for the Red Devils.

Louis van Gaal splashed the cash to bag Depay from PSV Eindhoven, beating off competition from Paris Saint-Germain, and if all his performance bonuses are met, the Dutch side should earn €32m from his sale.

Depay, who impressed at last summer's World Cup with the Netherlands, is instantly expected to fight for a first team spot at Old Trafford.

He finished as PSV Eindhoven's top scorer last season and powered the side to the Eredivisie title, ending a run of four straight title wins from Frank de Boer's Ajax.

The winger is familiar with Van Gaal, having worked with him during the Manchester United manager's time as Netherlands coach, when the two joined forces at the World Cup in Brazil.
