Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has stressed the importance of the club’s pre-season tour for the players and the fans alike.

Henderson, who was the club vice-captain last season, feels the Reds’ tour of Asia and Australia will give their fans in the distant corners of the world a chance to see their stars in action.

"It's good to go away on pre-season, not just for us as players but for the fans that can't travel all the way over to England to watch games and training”, said the England international to Liverpool’s official website.

"It's important that we go there and they can see us first-hand.”

The 25-year-old believes pre-season will help the new players coming into the squad gel with the players already at the club, and gear them up for the upcoming season.

“And obviously for the players to be together for a couple of weeks is good, to make sure that we're all on the same page and wanting to do the same thing.

"For the new lads, it's a case of getting to know each other and gelling as a team, ready for the first game", he added.

Liverpool have added six new players to their squad over the summer: James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne.

The Reds will travel to Thailand for their first pre-season fixture on 14th of July before going to Australia to face Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United.

They will be back in Asia to play a friendly against a Malaysia XI to end their ten-day tour, after which they travel back to Europe to square off against HJK Helsinki in Finland.
