Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has stressed the importance of Sergio Ramos for his team and hopes that the defender will eventually decide to stay on beyond the summer.

Ramos is unhappy with his contractual situation with the Spanish giants with Premier League giants Manchester United showing particular keenness to sign the 29-year-old.




It has also been lately reported that the Premier League giants are looking to get the Spaniard on an exchange deal for goalkeeper David de Gea, who is wanted by Real Madrid.

Navas though remains hopeful of seeing his team-mate stay on with Los Blancos, in spite of all the interest from Manchester United.
 


Speaking on the issue of whether he has spoken to his team-mate about his future, Navas said that he is not aware of what has been going through his team-mate's head, but will hope from a professional point of view that Ramos stays.

"I haven’t had the chance to speak to him. But for us, Sergio is a very important players and I hope he stays. We’ll see what happens", Navas said in an interview with Spanish daily AS.

On the issue of Ramos' desire to stay, the goalkeeper added: "That I don’t know. You’ll have to ask him.

"I can only speak as a team-mate and what concerns us professionally; some issues are personal and it’s not right for me to comment on."
