AC Milan are preparing to make a move for Manchester United midfield target Ilkay Gundogan.

Gundogan was heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer, with Manchester United and Arsenal believed to be his suitors.

There were also claims that Louis van Gaal’s men were close to sealing a deal for the Germany international but the midfielder signed a new two-year contract with the club to put a lid on all the speculation.

However, the 24-year-old has said that a future exit from the Westfalenstadion is still a possibility and AC Milan are believed to have taken note of his words.

New AC Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic wants to add quality to their midfield ranks and according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, he has asked the club hierarchy to launch a bid for Gundogan.
