Bastia are in talks to tempt midfielder Mathieu Flamini to the club from Arsenal this summer, but any deal could only materialise at the end of the transfer window.

The French outfit have long been keen on the midfielder, but signing him has proven to be a difficult task.

Now they are putting in a genuine tilt at signing the former AC Milan midfielder and according to French outlet Eurosport, talks are under way.

Flamini could leave Arsenal on a free transfer this summer, despite still being under contract at the Emirates Stadium, as he has slipped down the pecking order.

And Bastia are hoping the 31-year-old may choose to return home, which would hand them an opportunity to secure his signature. However, there are concerns about the salary the midfielder would demand, with €1.5m the mooted figure.
