Rangers assistant manager David Weir is not worried about his club’s lack of friendly fixtures in pre-season.

Weir, who was appointed as the Gers’ assistant manager last month along with manager Mark Warburton, says the lack of pre-season friendlies for the Ibrox club was by choice as they arrived at the club relatively late.

"That was our choice. We came in relatively late and we had to adjust to that”, the former defender was quoted as saying by Eurosport.

The 45-year-old insists the club are happy with their pre-season plans, and believes the Gers will be prepared for the start of the new season with only a handful of practice games.

"We are happy with the plans we have in place. We have a couple of behind-closed-doors games as well as Burnley at Ibrox, so it's up to us to get ready for the start of the season”, Weir added.
