PSV Eindhoven captain Georginio Wijnaldum is on his way to England to complete his switch to Newcastle United.

Newcastle have moved in quickly to secure a deal for one of their top targets this summer and the Dutchman is now on his way to the north east of England to complete the formalities of his transfer.

The Magpies have agreed a deal with PSV worth around €20m for the Dutch international, according to Dutch outlet Soccer News, and are keen to complete the move for the playmaker before they depart for their pre-season tour of the US this weekend.

PSV have also announced that Wijnaldum is on his way to England, where he will undergo a medical before signing a new contract at St. James’ Park.

Speaking to the club’s official website, PSV technical director Marcel Brands said: "Georginio Wijnaldum has left the players' hotel in Evian-les-Bains.
