Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking admits that Newcastle United and Southampton target Bas Dost’s recent antics have annoyed him.

Despite a stellar latter half of last season for the forward, the relationship between the club and the player is not believed to be at its best.

Dost has indicated that Wolfsburg’s treatment of him during the first half of last term could play a role in him leaving the club this summer.

The Dutchman played very little football before the winter window for the club last season and had to spend most of his time either on the bench or in the stands.

However, the Wolfsburg boss feels that the forward has little to complain about and stressed that he received their full support despite him going through a lean patch.

Hecking also added that Dost’s constant complaints are getting on his nerves and said that most players at some point of their career have to spend time on the sidelines.

“It is starting to get a little irritating”, Dieter Hecking told Bild.

“Bas has our confidence but it is not always about what the player needs.

“Even good players sit on the bench sometimes but we have always backed Bas, even when things were not going well for him.”

Newcastle United and Southampton are keeping their hawkish eyes on Dost’s situation at Wolfsburg and could pounce if he eventually decides to leave.
