Celtic look set to have to hold on throughout the summer in order to see whether they can sign Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid.

The Bhoys are one of several sides interested in snapping up the 16-year-old wonderkid from Los Blancos for the forthcoming campaign.

However, Real Madrid have named Odegaard in their squad for their pre-season tour, which will see them play seven friendlies between 18th July and 9th August.

Odegaard has been given the chance to impress new Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez, who will make a decision on whether he feels the Norwegian could receive adequate playing time in the first team next term.

If not, Real Madrid are likely to look to loan Odegaard out and Celtic are mooted to be the front-runners due to the player's relationship with Bhoys boss Ronny Deila.

Odegaard played under Deila at former club Stromsgodset and the pair have a good relationship, recently meeting up at a Norwegian top flight game.

However, Celtic do face opposition from clubs in France, Germany and Spain.
