Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile has joined Spanish La Liga side Sevilla on a season-long loan.

Sevilla were in the market for a striker, having sold their leading marksman Carlos Bacca to AC Milan this summer, and have landed the Italian on a loan deal.

Immobile joined the Signal Iduna Park outfit last summer, but failed to make his mark at the club in his inaugural season in the Bundesliga and netted a mere three league goals from 24 appearances as the club struggled in the league before ultimately ending up in seventh in the standings.

A statement released on Dortmund's website confirmed the striker’s departure, subject to a medical.

“Borussia Dortmund have agreed on a deal in principle which will see BVB forward Ciro Immobile move on loan to Spanish top-tier outfit FC Sevilla.

“The move will see the Italy international striker join the La Liga outfit on a season-long loan deal until 30 June 2016, subject to an obligatory medical.”

Immobile will add firepower to the Andalusians as they look to improve upon their fifth placed league finish from last season and progress to the latter stages of the Champions League – the tournament they qualified for on the virtue of a triumphant Europa League campaign last term.

The 25-year-old has earned 12 caps for the Italian national team and has a goal to his name for the Azzurri.
