Fluminense starlet Gerson will be joining Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona in January.

The youngster’s father Marcos Antonio da Silva, commonly known as Marcao, has confirmed that his son will be lining up for the Catalan giants next year.

Gerson, who has come through the ranks at Fluminense, has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona as well as Italian giants Juventus.

But Marcao has confirmed that his son has chosen to ply his trade for the Blaugrana, saying that it his son’s dream is to play for the reigning European champions.

Barcelona are currently under a FIFA-imposed transfer embargo that will remain in force until next year. The ban prevents the club from registering new players, meaning that any new signings will have to wait until the sanction is lifted before they can play for the side in a competitive game.
