Southampton have announced the signing of highly rated Dutch midfielder Jordy Clasie from Feyenoord to strengthen their midfield options.

Clasie has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at St. Mary's and becomes the club's fifth summer signing in the process.

The midfielder, who has eleven caps for the Netherlands to his name, has worked with Saints boss Ronald Koeman before during his spell in charge of Feyenoord.

Clasie made his debut for Feyenoord under Koeman and made a total of 129 appearances for the Rotterdam giants.

The Dutch midfielder arrives at Southampton as a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin, who signed for Manchester United earlier this week.

Clasie is delighted with the move and explained that he had only positive vibes from Southampton, while he also discussed the move with former Feyenoord team-mate Graziano Pelle, with whom he reunites at St. Mary's.

"It feels good. They told me about the players. Everybody is easy and it feels good. It feels warm", he told the club's official channel.

"Pelle told me about the players and everything feels good for me", Clasie added.
