The 20-year-old Ghanaian international’s future at Augsburg has been a subject of furious speculation as a number of top clubs across Europe have shown a keen interest in signing him this summer.

Chelsea have been actively trying to take the young full-back to England this summer but Roma are said to be the top contenders to land Baba.

The Giallorossi have been on his trail for some time now and according to Sky Italia, club officials are in Germany at the moment to close out the deal for the young full-back.

Baba is one of Rudi Garcia’s top targets for the summer and the club are engaged in talks with Augsburg to get the deal over the line.

Though they are yet to find a breakthrough, Roma are increasingly confident that they will be able to prise Baba away from the Bundesliga.

While Chelsea remain interested, the full-back is believed to be more keen to join Roma as he feels he will get more first team opportunities at the Stadio Olimpico.

His contract with Augsburg runs until the summer of 2019.
