Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed he is on the lookout for a new defender to complete his squad.

The Blues have only added Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic as direct replacements for the departed club legends Didier Drogba and Petr Cech in the summer.

Mourinho has hinted specifically at a defensive reinforcement which he feels will complete the balance of his squad. Chelsea had a bid for Everton defender John Stones rejected last week.

“I am looking for a defender to finish the balance in our squad and after that we are ready to answer to anything that can happen with our players”, said the Portuguese to his club’s official website.

The 52-year-old has emphasised keeping the balance of the squad intact but says the club will look for a replacement should one of their players leave during the summer.

“If one of our players wants to leave or we agree a deal for a player to leave we have to answer immediately because at this moment we have balance and quality in numbers.

“We cannot lose that balance”, Mourinho added.

The Premier League champions will kick-off their season in the FA Community Shield a week before the start of the 2015/16 Premier League season.

Their league title defence begins on the 8th of August at home against Swansea City.
