Leeds United goalkeeper Charlie Horton believes manager Uwe Rosler’s urge for a top-six mentality at the club will help in the Whites’ promotion push next season.

The Elland Road outfit are currently on their pre-season tour of Austria and Norway to prepare for the upcoming season.

And goalkeeper Horton has talked up Rosler’s urge to build a top-six mentality at the club, which he believes is possible with Leeds’ combination of youngsters and experienced heads.

Speaking to his club’s official website, the 20-year-old said: “The gaffer has preached on building this top-six mentality around the club. I think that’s what we’re starting to put into practice.

“The team has a great mix of old players who have been there and know what it takes, and young players who are hungry to prove that they have what it takes.”

Last season, the Whites finished a disappointing 15th in the Championship. But Horton believes Leeds are over last season’s disappointments and will start the new season with a clean slate.

He is confident the club will approach the 2015/16 season on the front foot.

“Last year was last year and we’re ready to start this year on the front foot and ready to go after the league”, added Horton.

Horton signed for the Elland Road outfit from Cardiff City last month. He is a USA Under-23s international, and was part of the Cardiff City Under-21s side last season.
