Leeds United manager Uwe Rosler has stressed the long-term benefits of pre-season training as he prepares his side for the rigours of a long season.

The Whites will square off against Eintracht Frankfurt in a pre-season friendly in Austria later today, and their German manager has emphasised the work in pre-season is focussed on getting his players ready for the entire season ahead.

While he is looking ahead to the first game of the season against Burnley, Rosler has attached more importance to where his club will finish at the end of the season.

“We’re not only preparing for the Burnley game, we’re preparing for 10 months”, said Rosler to Leeds’ official website ahead of the Eintracht Frankfurt game.

“The Burnley game is a very important one but it’s not our last game.

“We have to understand that we have to be where we want to be in May 2016.

“For that, we have to prepare for a marathon. We’re not preparing for a sprint.”

Leeds are currently on their pre-season tour of Austria and Norway where they will face Bundesliga opponents in two friendly encounters.

Today’s clash with Eintracht Frankfurt will be followed by a game against Hoffenheim in Lillestrom on Saturday.

The Whites, who finished 15th in the Championship last season, will start their league campaign against Burnley at Elland Road on the 8th of August.
