Roma are looking at moving for Argentine midfielder Ricardo Alvarez after Sunderland did not agree to keep him on a permanent basis.

Sunderland's actions have angered Inter, from whom Alvarez was on a season-long loan deal for last term.

Inter believe that a clause in their loan agreement with Sunderland meant the Black Cats would be compelled to buy Alvarez outright if they avoided relegation from the Premier League, which they duly did.

But Sunderland have returned Alvarez to Inter and left the Nerazzurri threatening to take the case to FIFA.

Now, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, last season's Serie A runners-up Roma are looking at a deal for Alvarez as they aim to add to their squad over the summer.
