Atletico Madrid have completed the purchase of Vitoria Guimaraes starlet and Manchester United target Bernard Mensah.

Mensah has been handed a six-year contract by Los Rojiblancos and will spend next season on loan at Spanish La Liga side Getafe.

A statement released on the Atletico Madrid website confirmed the signing of the Ghanaian.

“Bernard Mensah is now an Atletico player after the agreement for his transfer reached with Vitoria Guimaraes.

"The Ghanaian player has signed with our club for six seasons. He will play the first one in Getafe, on loan.”

Last season, Mensah made 30 appearances in the Portuguese Primeira Liga in what was his first season in top flight football and impressed with his performances.
