Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with Sporting Lisbon over signing in-demand midfielder William Carvalho.

The Portuguese international, who turned out for his country at this summer's European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic, is of interest to a number of sides.

William has regularly been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, while Bayern Munich are also alive to his talents.

But according to Portuguese daily DN, it is PSG who have taken the lead in the race by making contact with Sporting Lisbon to lodge their interest in the midfielder.

Sporting Lisbon want to keep hold of the 23-year-old, but PSG coach Laurent Blanc is desperate to add William to his midfield ranks for the season ahead.
